Choose the Right Oil For Your Car
Your vehicle’s user manual should recommend the type of oil your vehicle requires. Vehicle manufacturers may recommend conventional, high mileage, full-synthetic, or synthetic blend oils.
Conventional Oil Change
Conventional oil is made from refined crude oil. Once the standard in motor oil, today, conventional oil is now mostly recommended for older model vehicles. Conventional oil degrades and evaporates faster than synthetic and synthetic blend oils, so vehicles using conventional oil require more frequent oil change services.
High-Mileage Oil Change
A high-mileage oil change service is typically recommended for vehicles with over 75,000 miles on their odometers. Vehicle user manuals often recommend when to switch to high-mileage oil, which helps reduce emissions while minimizing the risk of oil leaks.
Full Synthetic Oil Change
Synthetic oil is a highly refined oil made from chemically modified compounds. Its molecules are uniform in shape and size, resulting in a consistent viscosity. Full synthetic oil performs well at temperature extremes and degrades at a slower rate than conventional oil.
Synthetic Blend Oil Change
As the name suggests, a synthetic blend oil change uses oils that blend conventional oil with synthetic oil. The result is an oil that provides better protection than using conventional oil alone.
